GLOBAL ISSUES AND HUMAN RIGHTS

This unit will help students understand some of the key issues in the world they live. A range of contemporary global issues will be explored. It will allow students to engage in meaningful discussion and raise awareness of how they could be involved through numerous charity organisations.

Year 7

  • What is the global pattern of education?
  • Does every child get an education?
  • What are the impacts of not going to school?

Year 8

This part of the unit is currently being re-designed

Year 9

  • What is an asylum seeker?
  • Where do refugees come from?
  • What the differences between asylum seekers and refuges?
  • What is the local situation in Stockton regarding these groups?

Year 10

  • What are the issues around food banks, food waste and global food supply?
  • How can we tackle food issues locally, nationally and globally?

Year 11

  • What are issues that affect women including FGM, forced and arranged marriage?
