The Easter holidays seen the highlight of 2 terms hard work from the two Les Misérables casts. The casts were roughly split between Upper 6th and Keystage 4 lead roles with George and Ryan leading as Valjean and Javert in all performances.

All main roles were excellently supported from a Keystage 3 chorus – most of which took on their own solo lines throughout. The ability levels were only matched by the determination of everyone to put on a show that would not be forgotten. Each night ended with a true standing ovation in recognition of the superb singing, excellent acting and professional atmosphere each member of the cast projected.

Working with Middlesbrough Theatre was a true highlight for everyone. Being in a professional venue for such a big production added to the experience for all. Having tech rehearsals, sound checks, set changes, new lighting of the show and dressing rooms – the list of ‘firsts’ for most of our cast continued to grow. In addition, the cast were aided in rehearsals by Mrs Harland expertly singing and accompanying and then for the shows – a professional full orchestra.

Our orchestra was made of professional musicians supported by Egglescliffe students on violin, brass and percussion. Our school musicians played as part of the team with our orchestra and blended in seamlessly.

Overall, the show was a resounding success providing memories that will last a lifetime. Well done to all involved and I am sure all students will be able to recall the event in years to come.
