Egglescliffe School is pleased to announce that it’s opening applications for its second year of Duke of Edinburgh Awards. Applications for the Bronze Award are now open to year 8 students.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) is a nationally and internationally recognised programme for students aged 13-25. It is highly regarded by colleges, universities, and employers who are all looking for stand-out candidates for courses and jobs.

The aim of the Award is to encourage students to participate in a wide range of activities outside of academic study to ensure they leave school as well-rounded individuals. The Award encourages the development of a range of transferable skills, including: self-confidence, leadership, planning and time management, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork.

Students will receive letters from tutors to bring home, but there will be an important parent information evening taking place on Tuesday 19th June at 6pm in Lovell Theatre. Parents and students are invited to come along to learn and ask questions about the programme and the application process in detail.
