GCSE Results 2018

Egglescliffe School is celebrating a stunning set of GCSE results in which a phenomenal 144 exam qualifications were graded at the top grade 9 or equivalent. A fantastic 81% of students have achieved a grade 4 or higher in both maths and English, with 67% achieving a grade 5 or higher in both subjects. Ebacc performance was also strong with 43% of students achieving a grade 4 or higher in all of the Ebacc subjects which is significantly above the national average.

An amazing twenty students achieved at least three grade 9s, with 4 students achieving over seven grade 9s. These are reserved for only the very best performances nationally.

English and maths performed exceptionally well once again, but this was also complimented by excellent performances in the Ebacc subjects- languages, science and humanities as well as PE, RE and vocational courses. 13 subjects achieved over 35% pass rate at grade 9 to 7 or equivalent. This reflects the school’s ethos of delivering a broad and balanced curriculum in which students of all abilities can achieve in a wide range of subjects.

Simon White, Head Teacher said “we are beyond proud of our students who have worked extremely hard to cope with the increased challenge of studying for the reformed GCSE and vocational qualifications. We would like to extend our thanks to the dedicated staff and parents who have worked tirelessly to support our Year 11 students in achieving this GCSE and BTEC success. This is following the outstanding A-level results that we received last week which were some of the best in the Tees Valley. We look forward to welcoming both Egglescliffe students, as well as students from other schools, to our Sixth Form enrolment event which takes place from 9.30am until 1pm on Thursday 23rd August so they can embark upon the next stage of their education at an outstanding college.”
