All of the teachers in Egglescliffe are amazing for advice with coursework and exam help. They put on revision sessions in the holidays and I think that really helped me get the best grades possible.

It’s got an amazing atmosphere and all of the teachers are really friendly. There are also lots of different opportunities to get involved in and you can get amazing experience from them.

Where are you now?

I’m now studying English Literature and Language at The University of Sheffield. Outside of my degree, I founded and now edit online arts and culture magazine, and I self-published and sold out my debut poetry collection.

Favourite memory:

Probably group discussions with my A Level literature class. Everyone was really passionate and interested in the subject so we worked really well as a class and would have super-long, enthusiastic discussions and group work.

Support you received:

There was so much support during 6th form. Teachers were really easy to find to ask questions; feedback from essays or practice exams was really in depth and small class sizes meant everyone got focussed attention so you couldn’t slip behind.

Why should people go to Egglescliffe?

Egglescliffe has a real family atmosphere. There’s such a nice relationship between teachers and students, and everyone knows each other. The academic quality can’t be disputed, but that’s down to the amazing teachers and support that you wouldn’t get in a huge college.

Where do you hope to be in 5 years?

I hope to have graduated with a good degree and be pursuing a job within writing or journalism, whilst also continuing to write poetry and publish my own magazine.

Where are you now?

I recently completed my first year studying Optometry at Cardiff University

Favourite memory:

The biology field trip to Blencathra in the Lake District. Although it rained most of the time, it was a really fun experience and also valuable in my studies.

Support you received:

The support from teachers was endless. I was unable to attend the majority of my first term of college, but all my teachers ensured I could catch up with everything I’d missed, staying behind for hours on end to ensure I completed my coursework on time, and giving me all the help and support I needed so I could complete my A Levels. The support continued when I didn’t get the results I’d hoped for, meaning I was eventually able to get the grades I needed so I could go to university.

Why should people go to Egglescliffe?

Egglescliffe is a fairly small college compared to others in the area, which means the teachers know you personally and are always willing to help, whether they actually teach you or not. I think this was essential for me to ensure I succeeded in my A Levels, but the close relationship with teachers also made college more enjoyable.

Where do you hope to be in 5 years?

I hope to be a fully qualified, successful Optometrist.
