Welcome to the Religious Studies, Philosophy and Ethics Department.
This subject gives students the opportunity to examine the beliefs and traditions of the world’s major religions and to consider contemporary moral issues.
Our approach is objectively academic and the subject is open to all. It is of equal value to students who are members of a faith community and those who are not. Our aim is to engender respect for all belief systems while helping students develop the skills to critically examine them. Our lessons should enable students to challenge preconceptions about individuals and groups in our immediate and wider society and engage in meaningful consideration of their own spiritual, moral and cultural values.
In Key Stages 3 and 4 the subject is delivered for one hour per week to mixed ability groups. The popular GCE is taught over10 lessons per cycle.
We have two specifically dedicated classrooms and are well resourced with books, audio-visual materials and religious artefacts.
