We are an ambitious school and our achievements have been widely recognised.Consistently our GCSE and post 16 results are some of the best in the region. Egglescliffe has been rated "outstanding" in three consecutive inspections (2005, 2008 and 2013). Since 1994 Egglescliffe has been inspected five times and after each inspection we have been listed in the Chief Inspector’s Annual Report. We have won a range of national awards over many years. These awards include Artsmark Gold (four times; the latest designation in 2012), Sportsmark, Healthy Schools Award Gold, ICT Quality Mark, the Inclusion Quality Mark Gold, an Improvement and Excellence Award for English in 2012 and for Mathematics in 2013. We have six Investors in People accreditations. In September 1999 we were designated a specialist school for the Performing Arts, one of only 29 in the country at that time. In April 2008, following our designation as a “high performing specialist school” we gained a second specialism as a Science College. These specialisms indicate the breadth, quality and diversity of the school. In 2010 the Headteacher, Mrs Darnell, was awarded an OBE for “services to education”. In 2012 our Head of Music, Mr Haworth, was awarded the Secondary Music Teacher of the Year by Classic FM. If you would like to find out more about the school and what it achieves, month by month, please go to the section marked Newsletters. Mrs Darnell writes a newsletter every month and has done so since September 1994. Over fifty newsletters are archived on this website and they will give you lots of detail about all aspects of Egglescliffe School. The newsletter is also sent to parents electronically via Parent Pay Our most recent ofsted report (May 2013) gives a very detailed and accurate assessment of the school. The full report is available to download from both the school website (by clicking here) and www.ofsted.gov.uk

Our partnership with parents is very important to us. Egglescliffe is an open school and I want you to feel active participants in your child’s education. If you have any concerns, however small, please telephone. I would like to invite you attend our open evening and to visit the school at any time. |
