There is a strong argument that in the future everyone will need to have had a business education. In life, everything you touch, see and come in contact with, involves Business Studies. Business Studies not only develops entrepreneurs, but also imparts students with the necessary skills & knowledge in order to survive in the world of work. Whatever you do in your career, the chances are that it will involve some ‘business’. Scientists, engineers, even artists, will inevitably have to understand at least the basics of business, and probably a lot more.
Do you ever wonder why some advertisements on television are so bad?! Why all the best offers in a shop are at the back of a store? When entering a supermarket you can smell freshly baked bread? Why some retail shops sell the same products, and they seem to sell them at the same price? Is this fair?
Business Studies gives you the answers to these questions and many, many more!!
Business is a practical subject. The reason is that in business you have to DO things, take decisions, take action and monitor results, not just planning but implementing ideas. Within this department we try to simulate the dynamism of real business within our classroom. We have strong links with some major businesses, including Middlesbrough Football Club, Cummins Engines, HSBC and Hollywood Bowl. This gives a practical feel at our teaching and draws on real life examples and not just work from textbooks. We use the latest technology with an interactive whiteboard in the classroom and the use of ICT throughout the school.
We have 3 specialist staff teaching this subject – Miss Richardson, Mr Fairbairn and Mr Gratton.
Business Studies is REAL.
REAL life, REAL facts and REAL opportunities.
Business Studies……..making it REAL!!
